The Nest on the Top of Tree

The Nest on the top of the Tree
I wonder, why birds build nests so high up in the tree.
I was overlooking the garden from my daughters window.
The tree in question, is the tallest tree in the far end of our garden. It must over 20 meters.
The branches were shedding the leaves, as the Autumn is setting in. That is why I could see the nest so high up from a distance of around 100 mt from where I was standing.
So I asked my son, as to why would a bird a nest so high up. He, being typically nonchalant, answered , ‘ Save the chicks from the prey’.
That must be true.
I was not sure which bird's nest it was, Pigeon or Crow. I am not into ornithology.
However, my main concern was, how do they protect the chicks from the rain and windy conditions which is so common in England.
Gosh, I wish I had a drone camera handy to go up there and take some pictures.
At these juncture, one start believing in providence.
Mother nature must be very kind to these creature or the birds must be an expert engineer to keep the nest intact for most time.
Some more questions started peering in my mind.
Why is there only one nest up there?
What about the other birds who flies in every morning? No I can’t miss any other nests, if there were any, as this was top of the tree cone.I was worried, how slowly all the remaining leaves will drop off and the nest will be left with no cover.
I hope the chicks learn to fly before the winters, to wherever they go during the winters.
I always long for the spring to arrive. There will be new leaves, the birds will come back.
New nest will be made. New generation will come.
It also makes me wonder, if it will be the same couple who will make the nest here!
